MANDYLAND: THE LAUNDRY TARTS

They call themselves the Laundry Tarts (cue giggles), and even without knowing a thing about them, I bet you smiled just reading their name. Heck, I even giggled just typing it. Tarts. What a funny word. Laundry. What a tedious chore, unless you’ve got the Laundry Tarts by your side!
Launched in 2009 by two environmentally conscious hotties, the Laundry Tarts has already garnered quite the following and has infiltrated cities from here to there and everywhere, selling all–natural, sweet smelling laundry detergent. Here’s a list of what’s on the laundry menu, as taken from www.thelaundrytarts.com (cue drool–fest):
*Black Forest Cake: Layers of decadent dark chocolate drizzled with berry coulis.
*Classic Marzipan: A traditional classic of smooth almond candy on a bed of sweet cherries.
*Key Lime Pie: A Sparkling splash of lime topped with delicate maple meringue foam.
*Vanilla Dulce: Full celestial bodies of bold vanilla clouds sun kissed with butterscotch.
*Cinnamon Buns: Warm, heavenly cinnamon swirled with a golden halo of honey.
*Plain Jane: Unscented; for those who are the most pure of heart and smell.
*And their brand new Oatmeal Almond! Yum!
I’ll give you even more reasons to love the Laundry Tarts (cue proof of awesomeness)! Their dessert infused detergent is healthy, environmentally friendly, and hypo–allergenic, which is great for the sensitive of skin, babies, and the elderly. It has been known to clear up skin conditions caused by the use of regular detergents, and their product has even been tested and approved by Bummis, a manufacturer of cloth diapers, which quality conscious moms will really appreciate.
For those who are thrifty, the Laundry Tarts detergent is only 30 cents a load, whereas Tide is 70 cents per load. You do the math. But if you need some help, that’s 40 cents cheaper. And FYI, just one bag of the Laundry Tarts’ detergent is enough for 144 loads in an energy efficient washer. 144 loads for only $19.95 per bag? Amazing!
Here’s another bonus: their soap also includes a colour safe stain remover, natural oxygen cleaner and a natural softener, so you also save even more money by not needing to purchase these things in addition to the soap. And for your dryer, the Laundry Tarts have created an all–natural alternative to Bounce sheets: a spray that smells so good no sock will ever go astray. Hot!
What’s more is that the company stands by its values, ensuring that all product materials are found within a 100 mile radius. They use soy ink, recycled/biodegradable packaging, integrity and passion, and the Laundry Tarts also support Korakor (www.korakor.fr), a movement dedicated to spreading love and connecting people throughout the world.
Given this high level of awesomeness, it seems that their previous incarnation as Natural Product Advisors at Planet Organic Market in Mississauga (where Jessica and Michelle met) proved to be the perfect precursor to creating an amazing product that everyone is talking about.
All those years in retail, reading labels, finding the best products for people, ensuring they were made with top of the line ingredients, paved the way not only for the creation of their detergent, but gave both Jessica and Michelle the training necessary for their other passion: eco–coaching.
You can check out their YouTube channel TheLaundryTarts for great product reviews, including stain–filled tests on their own product, and informative videos that will help you make the right choice for you when it comes to natural alternatives to everyday products like toothpaste and cleaning products.
